Palm Sunday
The Messiah’s (Anointed One) own people expected him to arrive as a conquering King arrayed in glory, in a display of power, who would defeat their enemies through might and force.
Instead, the unexpected happened; it confounded everyone, including those closest to him.

Good Friday
Betrayed, abandoned, mocked, and regarded as a criminal—the violence and humiliation that Jesus endured in his death, which he willingly entered, was beyond what the disciples could have foreseen. They expected him to ascend to his rightful place as King, and ascend he did, but not in the way they anticipated him to. Unbeknownst to them at that point, his sacrifice unleashed power that gave them and us access to the very presence of Yahweh. The world would never be the same again. (Read Hebrews 10:19-23)

Black Saturday
Silence was all there was on this day. The pain of witnessing the Messiah die as he did was too much to bear. Mourning was the only appropriate response.

Resurrection Sunday
Jesus’ resurrection is the ultimate story of fate reversals. Who would have thought that life could come out of such a violent death? And not just any life, but life that leads to more life that leads to more life.
He is risen! What joyous news to humanity and creation as a whole! Now, we wait in eager anticipation for the revelation of the fullness of His Kingdom. (Read Romans 8:18-25)
