chronicling thailand moments…
In the first few weeks of being here in Thailand, I started keeping a simple journal to account some of my experiences. Some are just plain silly and insignificant, others are uniquely Thai, and in most accounts they are simply descriptions of a ‘farang’ (thai for foreigner) coming into this beautiful culture.
As I am aware that each culture is different, I keep a perspective of openness and willingness to engage in it with much thought and heart. There are inevitably positive and negative sides of every culture; the Thai culture is not different in that aspect. So I ask that as I share my personal narratives, you will see it as mere descriptions and not complaints or frets about the culture. I am intensely grateful to be given the chance to be here. I consider it a privilege to live here — a gift from my Father who definitely displays His magnificence through His people.
I started this journal over a year ago on a tumblr account specifically for Thailand experiences only. Recently, I decided to fuse all of my online writing activites into one site (it gets a little confusing to have too many blogs, “smiling”) and to also include all of my encounters with different cultures in my travels. I did not transfer old entries from that previous blog so they won’t be visible on this site. I will begin afresh here.
Although, many of my tales will still revolve around Thailand events as my husband and I are currently serving here, but we travel a lot; I will get many opportunities to go beyond the confines of Krabi Town.
You can explore this part of my blog by navigating on the menu and going to a specific country. Thank you for stopping by! I hope that you stick around. Please don’t hesitate to leave comments or ask me questions.
