I Am His
I am more a sinner than a saint.
Yet the Father calls me righteous without restraint.
Not because I have any merit,
but because of the Lamb’s blood spilt on Calvary.
O what is man that You are mindful of him?
My heart is bursting with Your deep love, my King.
How can it be that You care for me?
Awaken, my sleeping soul, for the Lord is near.
Yield to His Presence, and let Him invade.
My soul, you are His; let Him take His rightful place.
O what is man that You are mindful of him?
My life is barren, O Lord, without Your grace.
I am more a sinner than a saint.
Yet the Father calls me daughter, a royalty.
Not because I have any merit,
But because He has chosen me; yes, I am His.
O what is man that You are mindful of him?
My soul now awaits to be reunited with the King.
When I write poems, it’s usually because I am initially inspired with something and then I sit down and string words together to convey the image of what I feel. This poem is different. It’s the first poem I wrote that came to me in an unexpected manner. While Jesus as my inspiration for it is not a surprise, the first few lines registered in my head, loud and unrelenting, as I was walking down a street. I don’t recall which street it was or where I was headed; I was too engulfed in my world. And yes, I have this unfortunate habit I have never been able to escape from since childhood: a tendency to be absent-minded at any time of the day with my mind swimming in the abyss of my thoughts. (Not advisable when you are driving, which I try very hard to avoid doing.) I do remember stopping and writing the lines down on my phone. About a week ago, I sat down to finish it. (A few of the lines came from Psalm 8:4.)
I pray for these words to remind you of Jesus’ love for you and to urge you to want more of Him in your life. I pray for these words to move you to a place of remembrance of how precious You are to Him. I pray for these words to cause you to live your life in the reality of His grace. If there is an abyss you want to be lost in, it is His love. Choose it, and you will find your true self.
Sple.did!! Keep on with your writing. You have so much to offer
